Working Tax Credits Question

Hi everyone,

I was told recently that I may qualify for working tax credit, but was wondering if anyone knew for sure? I did the calculators online but they come out with different responses and confuse me more!

My circumstances are as follows:

Age: 25
Annual income (total): £20,500
Work: Full-time 40 hours /week
Rent privately, live alone.
Drive to work, spend £50/week on petrol

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

Where did you get that from? I thought it was about £13,000 - £13,500 or so.

    £18,000 is a lot!

How much it costs you to get to work is irrelevant, they never count that in.

Ok just seen your other post she earns £18,000 she earns too much to be get working tax credits.

What is the cut off point of income for Working Tax Credit?

The cut-off point of income for getting Working Tax Credit is different for different people. The point at which you stop getting it will depend on your circumstances.

    For example, if:
    • You are a couple without children and
    • You are not disabled and
    • You and/or your partner work at least 30 hours a week
the cut off point is £17,458.

Well as he said he lives alone I presumed he didn't have a partner or children.

He mentioned petrol money so I guess I presumed he would have mentioned a partner or child if he had one. :)
