Add some salt to the ice to get it going on the melting point front.
Be very careful with the hairdryer, I also ruined a freezer with one of these.
The wooden spatula works well once the freezer has started to warm a little-it comes off in lumps instead of hacking away for hours.
I got a frost free freezer a few years ago, because this was my most hated task:mad:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
