How much do schools add to the value of property?

The town where we're looking to buy in currently has a Lower school (5 - 9) and a middle school (9 - 13). I've been told that in approximately 8 years time, the school system will be Primary and Secondary (ie all the way up to 18). Currently, from 13 to 18 the children take a bus to school in a town 7 miles away.
The point of my post:
Will the fact that the school system extends to 18 benefit (potentially) house prices?
Thanks
Vicky

Probably only if its a "must have" school... high Ofsted ranking etc..
if it is poorly ranked by them. who knows what the effect could be as people try to move to be nearer the good schools..
Did any one see "Admission Impossible"..... on CH4... all those problems caused by what school they want their kids to go to..The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

Due to the general shortage of school places where I live certain roads close to school have higher prices, and EA's use this as part of the advert when selling property. You virtually have to have your garden backing onto school to get a place!!!!0
