Severe Diasblement Premium component of Income Support question

I have been on Income Support for several years as a result of long term illness, recently my claim stopped as my partner moved in. He is employed. It didn't quite work the way we thought it would (to say the least) and so I had to ask him to leave again, which he has done.

I then restarted my claim for Income Support, it has been taking a while to sort it all out again but I got the letter today to say I've been reawarded it. This time though it's a lot less money. I notice they have left the disablement and severe disablement premiums off, which I always used to get before.

I think it might be thier mistake, as I understood those components were there because I was on certain rates of DLA. I am still on the same rates of DLA, but I am now wondering if I was wrong about this, or if there is another reason why perhaps.

My condition has not improved, there wont have been an issue with the Dr's letter as the GP is very supportive. The only thing that changed was boyfriend moved in then boyfriend moved out soon after, so my claim stopped and then was restarted.

Is there any other reason they might have left the disability and severe disability components out ? Or does it sound like they just mucked it up?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
[STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Does anyone claim carers allowance for you? Do you live alone or classed as?

No one claims carers allowance for me (as I understood it I can't have DLA if they do) and yes I live alone again.

you can have dla if someone claims CA for looking after you,BUT if someone gets CA for looking after you then you cant claim SDP,neither can you get sdp if a non dependant over 18 lives with you.It would appear they have made an error which a simple phone call should correct.

    Thanks, I'll ring them tomorrow.

On a side track, about the CA: I had my wires crossed about CA, I thought there was a reason my boyfriend couldn't claim it for me (he does the care), so I've just looked CA up. It says you can not get CA if you are earing more than £100 a week after expenses- he does. You also need to be a carer for 35 hours a week- he isn't. I am relieved he can't have it anyway though if I'm honest, I would feel a bit owned if he were bound to me by money. It's better for us both if feels he has a free choice to help me or a free choice not to. I've never told him about CA so I'm quite relieved he's not eligable anyway and I don't have to feel guilty for keeping him from something to which he is entitled.

If it's definitely IS you've reclaimed then it's as Woodbine says, it's an error. If it's ESA there is no basic disability premium but there is the severe disability premium

My understanding is that while it is desirable to award DP and SDP on each and every claim it is applicable to, if someone doesnt declare their entitlement to DLA, then it doesnt have to be awarded.

    Did you declare your entitlement?

It was an income support reclaim not ESA. I did declare I receive DLA and at what rates yes.

In that case the dp should have been paid straight away and they would normally send you an IS10 form which asks if anyone is claiming CA or if any other adults are living in the property. This would give them the info they need to award the sdp. I'd ring them just to make sure they're onto it.

They shouldnt really need to send the IS10 though if it was declared. The A1 (Or the 'virtual' equivalent) holds the same information and more.
