Tesco food, broken tooth, cracked filling.

I bought a packet of mixed nuts and raisins from Tesco and after putting a handful in my mouth and biting, I felt an excruciating pain from my back tooth.
My filling had come out and my tooth had cracked. I spat out what I was eating and there was a small chunk of orange stuff which I think is hard brittle plastic.
I'm not of the 'sue them' school of thought, and I can put up with the 2 days of pain and hassle before I got an emergency appointment, but I'm now out of pocket for paying for a dental trip I didn't need before I bought this product.
Is it worth complaining to get the cost of the dental treatment covered or is it a waste of time and I just need to put it down to one of life's irritations.
Any thoughts?

Absolutely!
Call Tesco now and explain what's happened.
Have you kept the receipt and the plastic (as they will want to check it out to verify your complaint)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Yeah call their customer services and tell them what happened and what you found - they may require you to send the item back (take pictures of it before you send it). Explain that as a result of the 'ufo' in the food you had to make an emergency trip to the dentist and are out of pocket by x amount and are they willing to reimburse you? After all you wouldnt want this to happen to anyone else would you!Weight Loss - 102lb0

It does depend on how recently you saw the dentist too, as it could just be that your tooth was ready to crack regardless of what you bit onto.
Are you sure the 'orange stuff' wasn't an especially dried piece of apricot?
Sorry if I'm wrong but it's worth considered, as my OH had a cracked tooth from a nut once and it was due to him neglecting to visit the dentist..Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
I'm going to contact Tesco and see what happens. I'm not going to get too hung up on it but it's worth seeing what they will do if anything.
starlight: that was one of the reasons that I was a little annoyed, I see the dentist regularly and my last appointment had only been 6 weeks before, (clean bill of health) so I would not have had to go again for ages. The orange stuff definately was not any type of food btw.
Thanks for the advice all.0
