Easyjet Luggage Allowance

The Luggage allownace rules are not clear to me.

Is this correct for 2 adults a child aged 13 and two younger children under 10.

Each of the 5 of us (ie the kids get an allowance) - can take up to 8 bags each and provided the total combined weight off all those bags is lower than 100kg and no individual bag is over 20kg there will not be any surcharge.

In addition each of us (ie the kids as well) can take one piece of hand luggage on (no weight limit) but within the size limit.

Have I got that right?

When I do the online check in am I likely to be hit for any other charges?

Hi - no, I think you've misunderstood. The baggage allowance is 20kg per person. You can take up to 8 bags (with a combined total weight of 20kg) but will be charged for each one so there's definitely no advantage. You can purchase extra weight before you go, and no bag can weigh
more than 32kg. Hand luggage has no weight limit but must fit the dimensions specified and you must be able to lift it into the overhead locker unaided.

    Baggage Allowances

    Each passenger is permitted
    • one standard piece of hand baggage to maximum dimensions of 56x45x25cm, and
    • Up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage to a maximum combined weight of 20kg. Each piece of checked-in hold baggage will incur a fee, which is payable online or at the airport at a higher charge. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure

Hand luggage and checked luggage are treated separately.

As long as hand luggage fits the size and you can lift it you can each carry as much as you like.

As for checked luggage, 5 people have a 100kg checked luggage allowance between them. If you restrict the weight to 96kg then you only need to have 3 bags weighing 32kg each between you.

Of course 32kg is heavy so you might want to have more bags each of which will have less weight - 4 bags : 25kg each, 5 bags : 20kg each, 6 bags 16.6kg each and so on up to 40 bags (5 * 8) which would have on average 2.5kg each :D

HOWEVER once you go above 100kg you will start paying excess baggage fees and if any one bag weighs more than 32kg then you won't be allowed to check it in
