I was due to start a new job but because I was in hospital they had to let me go. I'm still not fully recovered and wondering what benefits I should be claiming. I don't currently have a permanant place to live either.

Incapacity Benefit was closed to new claims in October 2008, it was replaced by ESA.
It was never a choice between the two as they are different benefits with different criteria.0 -

Hi RBK, I hope you are feeling a little bit better & im so sorry to hear of your plight.
If I was you i'd apply for ESA, LHA, CTB & DLA at least until you are feeling strong enough to return to work.
Don't rush yourself back to work & make yourself ill again.
((Hugs))I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

She doesn't have a job to rush back to - they let her go as she got sick and was unable to start the job.
Once you are well enough, you can then apply for JSA, LHA, CTB0 -
Do you pay rent for your temporary accommodation or are you sofa surfing?0
