Manchester weekend

Hi,

we are coming to Manchester for a long weekend at end of Sept.

Any MSE tips on things to do, places to go ?

Is there a botanic garden ?

What is the best value transport for the city ?

The tram can be a pretty cheap way to get around.

If you like gardens, then Tatton just south of the city is worth a visit.

you can get a one day ticket that covers all buses and trams........ but i can't remember how much it is. it's much cheaper to use just the bus if you can. there are lots of museums which have free entry (if you can get out to the imperial war museum north, i recommend that highly!)

We went to Manchester last year for a w/end without the children and we loved it. It is mostly free but they do have some paid for galleries.
