WTC & CTX new claim help needed please...

Hi

I wonder if anyone could tell me if my husband and I are entitled to claim wtc and ctx.

I work part time 2 days per week and my mother in law was watching our children (3 kids, 1 year, 2 1/2 year and 8 yrs old) so we didnt need a nursery for our children, last year 2009/2010 on my p60 i am down as earning £5040.00 before deductions.
My hubby is a director of a small business and his earnings from employment are £5853.00 for the year to 5/4/10. This is really low but we also take into account the dividend/investment income which is £21,700.00 gross.

We are expecting another baby and have recently started maternity leave but am planning to go to back to work in October and then the new baby and our other 2 young children will need to attend nursery 2 full days on the days which i work and our eldest 2 after school club afternoons at the same nursery.

I have tried to work out if we are entitled to anything and if so what but on the tc site it doesnt have a sections to fill out if you are a director/recieve dividends etc so im not sure how i can find out online.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance
Nina

  • Just to clarify one thing, dividends ARE treated as income, and the amount of them should be entered in the "Other Income" section of the form. At over £30k total income, you wont get any WTC but you will still get a little CTC. For now anyway - once the new rules come into effect from the budget, i doubt you'll get anything.
