HSBC overseas money transfer......

Hi. I'm trying to do an overseas money transfer on-line (as it's supposedly cheaper). UK £ account to overseas Euro. Could anyone who has done one of these recently confirm how long it took to process. Also, I notice they don't ask for the actual account number of the 'person/company' that the money is supposed to be for. Is that usual?
Lastly, what are you supposed to put as 'My reference' as COMPUTER SAYS NO. It won't let me proceed without that info.
Thanks.

Do they ask for an IBAN number or something similar? If so then that contains their account number.
You put whatever you like in the reference - possibly something to enable the payee to recognise the payment. Sounds like the only requirement is non-blank0 -
Ah yeah, just located the IBAN code and the account number I have is the last part of that.
'My Reference' still seems a bit odd, as previous to that there's a box for a message. I thought 'My Reference' might be another code I needed to find out

I have transferred to New Zealand and it took 3-4 work days. IBAN numbers include all the bank details required. In New Zealand IBAN numbers are just your normal bank account number with a country and bank prefix as well.
Oh and 'My Reference' is what shows up on yours and their statement I'm pretty sure.0 -
I did a transfer to South Africa yesterday and got notification from my SA bank this morning. The 'My reference' bit is just a note to yourself so that you recognise the transaction on your statement.0
