Hi this is my first post :)

was wondering if anyone who had maybe already worked a summer season in spain - or just worked in Spain could give me any advice. Me and a friend want to go over next week or the week after and find a job, any info anyone could give us on wheres best to go, what needs to be done, bank accounts, credit cards, accomodaton etc would be extremely welcome and we would be very grateful!

Let me know your experiences please!

Thankyou!

P.S. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place! :s

Like the UK the bars etc in Spain now have to pay holiday pay etc so try and keep staff all year round when they can. WHat you dont say is how many and what languages do you and your mate speak?

As unemployment is very high in Spain it might not be too easy to find work I'm afraid. I would treat it as a holiday making sure you have enough money to fund it. If you do find work, treat that as a bonus and stay on a bit longer.

Good luck though and hope it works out.
  • Yeah we only speak English! - was thinking of working the resort areas, do you think we'll have a better chance in another country? Really wish I'd learnt a language now!

Most bar staff in Spain will speak Spanish, english and another european language. I suspect that language will be aqn issue for any country you choose. As martindow has said unemployment will be an issue in most countries not just Spain.

Also try helpx....google it. Is what I am looking at. Working in Spain or anywhere in Europe. You stay on farms or houses and do about 5hrs work a day, 5 days a week usually, and they give you a roof and food. Things like looking after the house, gardening, driving, pruning, picking fruit. Good for weekends off, and you can maybe learn other basics to help in later life, like building walls and fences etc.
    Good luck.
