If you check the first ever statements you got with the cards, you'll see no interest was charged.
Credit card companies don't charge interest (except cash withdrawls) on the first statement just in case you're going to clear it in full.
Thereby resulting in all interest being charged a month in arrears - so interest on your June statement is for april-may, interest on your July statement will be for may-june, and so on.
No theft, just how credit cards workHappy to hear you've managed to clear them off though

The OP asked a question he/she didn't know the answer to and gets some sarky replies implying that he/she is stupid.
What is the purpose of these forums if this is all the help that can be given?
Of course we should all know the right way to do things and I am sure the other posters here do; I wish I was smart like you!
The OP (troll?) ranted, nothing more and then used OTT language including swearing. He/She desrves whatever they get !
Lets have a recap of a few words used - Robbed, Theiving, B a s t a r d s, daylight robbery, misleading !!
All entirely untrue !0 -

But if "rude" bothers you, why the hell are you having a go at those replying when the OP posted: "the thieving b*st*rds have charged me interest."What is the purpose of these forums if this is all the help that can be given?0 -
i agree with veryunsure, people come on this forum to find out things they don't understand and although wookie66 wasn't so polite at the companies people should still try to be polite in they're answers.
To sum up yes it is right that you were charged extra interest, but depending on the method in which you paid you could argue that you should have been made aware what amount you needed to pay in order to have a zero balance as at the date you made the payment.
So if you called up the call centre to pay the bill they should have told you the additional amount accrued, if they didn’t' you could in theory argue that any further interest after this date would not have been accrued and that it should not be charged (as long as you pay the full amount of accrued interest). It isn't legally required of them however so the agreement to this is totally up to the goodwill of the company as the onus is on you to state that you wish to pay the full accrued balance and not the statement balance which would be the default, HBOS with all their flaws are good in that they will give you both options, even if the additional amount is future purchases which do not need to be paid, as opposed to interest charges.0 -
Update: got some Kiwis and Nectarines on the go. Lovely.0
