E.on meter reading stuck from last 20 days!!

Hi,
i just noticed that my E.On meter reading has not moved since I last submitted my reading! They had actually marked my meter for replacement, stating that some of the meters had manufacturing defect and they will replace all meters of that make and model (though my meter was working, it was just a precaution from them). But I had to postpone that appointment as I was busy with work.
Now my queston is what happens next? I will phone them tomorrow informing the same. How will they charge me for these 20 days for electricity?
I am NOT on prepaid meter and I have only electricity supply from e.on.
Thanks
Vikram

They will charge based on readings taken from the new meter when the meter is replaced - for example. If the meter is changed at the end of next week and by then you have had a faulty meter for 31 days they would take your readings for the next 31 day period and base your billing on that as it should be very similar.0 -
The meter reading organisation (Data Collector to use official title) will estimate the Final reading (removal reading for old meter) based on you consumption history not future consumption as state by Andy_WSM.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Hi, estimating is an acceptable way of calculating your consumption as your meter is faulty.
However this is only aceptable for a period of time and is not an excuse for your supplier to drag their heels in replacing your meter.
Please rememeber that if during the estimated period your usage may have dramatically changed, e.g you went on holiday then you can challenge that estimate.
Also make sure that the estimate is for the similar period and not based on winter consumption
Good luck
Hope this helps0 -

Hi Vikram
I'm sorry you are suffering from a faulty meter. I totally agree with specialsparky, this needs sorting out quickly. The longer it drags on, the more we will have to rely on estimated meter readings.
This is a stopped meter issue and we have a specialist team who deal exclusively with these situations.
Give our Stopped Meter team a call and they will arrange for your meter to be replaced. They will also take responsibility for sorting out the billing.
We do charge for electricity used whilst meters are stopped as the energy has still been used. However, the charges will have to be based on estimated readings.
These are calculated using the average consumption at the property with allowances for seasonal fluctuations.
We will take into consideration all the info we have about your usage prior to the fault. Only where we have no usage history, will we base our calculations on future consumption.
Hope this helps Vikram. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to advise.
