I've been trying to loose weight to feel better about myself but it's really just not working. I had managed to lose half a stone with slimming world but quit as i hated being made to speak in class, and decided to go it alone. It's really not going very well and I've gained the half stone I've lost plus a few extra pounds and injust feel miserable with it. My dress which fit when I brought it I'm sure isn't going to fit any more - I'm to scared to try it on. I'm getting married in oct and I only want to lose a stone, just enough to feel comfortable in my dress, then go on to lose the rest after.
I know the problem - at work there's like a chocolate cupboard which I can't seem to stay away from. I just feel so down I don't know what to do. please don't feel you have to answer i just wanted to get it of my chest.

have a google in your area for toning tables. they are great for toning wobbly bits, i've lost loads off my tum etc using them, and they are really gentle and relaxing!
second, up your water intake, and swap your milk in tea/coffee for a lower fat one.
stop self sabotaging your diet at work with the choc cupboard. you have the control over this. if you do have to have a choc fix, puta curly wurly in the fridge and break it up into pieces amd eat it slowly.
swap white bread for wholemeal, and cut out cheese.0 -
Hi Love, you could just do the weigh in at slimming world and not stay for the class thats what me and my mum did we found it a bit much the class tbh, we started slimming world on monday but had kfc tonight for tea sometimes its so hard to get motivated.
Perhaps stick a picture of yourself on the areas where the naughty food is so everytime you go over to it you think twice or picture yourself in your dress and think that you have to get in it. Have you used a powerplate?

I go to Slimming World and we have had a number of ladies in the past who didn't like speaking in class either so they just spoke to our consultant about it and so they don't get asked anymore.
Is that an option? You really wouldn't be the first person to feel like that and I am sure your consultant would be understanding, it seems a shame to not carry on with something which obviously worked for you! If you think you wouldn't be able to ask them directly maybe you could write them a letter or something saying you'd really like to be part of group but would like to be a silent member!0 -
Put your dress on and get a trusted person to take front back & side pics and carry them around with you.
It works and is pure motivation to fit into it.
Look at the pics everytime you fancy something from the choc cupboard.
Yep you might hate the thought of the pics but which do you prefer, someone close to you seeing you in a dress that doesnt fit or all your wedding guests seeing you in a dres that doesnt fit and you dont feel like a princess on your day.
I know which I preferred!0 -
You're the only one who'll know how best to motivate yourself. For me the constant presence of unflattering photos would really knock my self-esteem. I need something that is going to encourage me to eat smaller portions, snack less and exercise more, not make me feel bad about how I look right now - easier said than done sadly!
My plan is to find an exercise that I like to do and schedule it in for set times every week. Maybe set up the exercise machine in our spare room and use it when I want to watch certain things on TV.
In terms of getting my head in the right place I really liked what I read on an American blog recently...attaining a healthy weight is not something that can be achieved using healthy eating and exercise and then maintained by abandoning said healthy eating and exercise. It's not a goal that can be achieved and then abandoned. It's a process, not a product. It's about changing our lifestyles, not dieting. In other words, it's not about the wedding; it's about being healthy for a lifetime of marriage.
I didn't like what she said about Spinach Smoothies, but the rest of the post is here

Exercise! Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and lose weight at the same time. Start off walking at a leisurely pace, increase the pace as time goes on and regulate your diet. Exercise produces endorphins which will lift your mood better than a bar of chocolate ever could.
Losing weight requires a lifestyle change - not a crash diet. Cut down on the nasty foods, but still enjoy them as an occasional treat. The weight will start to drop off and will stay off if you make permanent changes to your lifestyle.0 -
Weightwatchers. I lost 2 1/2 stone and am now have a size 8 wedding dress taken in (although i'd say it's more of a ten!), i was pushing a size 16 when i started and it's been really, really easy. Plus now I'm keeping it off and have been doing so successfully for several months and i don't even notice i'm eating less than before. Don't know why i didn't do it before. You have plenty of time.0

Aww hon u sound so down. I feel the same as you at the moment. Im not getting married but I have got my graduation coming up soon and really wanted to get rid of at least half a stone first.
I am really struggling at the moment and the more i think about dieting the more I think about food. Ive done it in the past but just cant get my head around it this time and its making me sooooooo miserable.
Just remember you're fiance is marrying you because he loves you and you will look beautiful on your wedding day I am sure.
Lets set ourselves a challenge eh?
No crisps or chocolates or chips for me for a week.
And at least half an hour of excersize a day.
What do you reckon.
We can encourage each other?

Hiya
I know exactly how you feel. I am a bridesmaid this weekend, and had planned to lose 3 stone by now, from the beginning if the year, by going to weightwatchers.
Fast forward to 2 months ago, and surprise, I hadnt quite managed!
Since then I have been doing herbalife (2 shakes a day. protein bar, and a low fat meal at night, lots and lots of water, and I have reduced my carbs). I swore I would never do that kind of diet cos I thought they were faddy, but I have managed to lose 2 stone, and it hasnt been as hard as I thought, although it hasnt been entirely easy!
I had got to the stage that I needed something really strict and disciplined, and I am quite chuffed that I have managed thus far. I plan to go back to WW in the next couple of weeks for the long term weight loss, but I feel more confident as I am not so hungry, so less chance of binging, and I am determined that the scales will not go up the way now! Its given me the kickstart I needed to keep going!
I will be upping my exercise too, just wii fit, but every night, and want to have lost at least 2 more stone by the time I go shopping for my own wedding dress in october!
Whatever route you choose, good luck. Its not easy, but remember - you CAN do it!0 -
thank you so much for all your kind words. I think yesterday everything just kinda got on top of me, but i''m feeling loads more positive today thanks to all you guys.
I am going to take on board the advice, and intend to go to the gym,i've eaten really well today, and have discovered that mouth freshener spray is actually a really good chocolate cupboard deterrent (useful tip given by OT).
I'm going to try my dress on at the weekend, and have my sister take some photos - i'm quite nervous but at the end of the day there is still plently of time to do something about it - thanks again guys
