Numpties at Royal Mail

Took a prepaid SD parcel to local mail centre this evening. Woman took it and said thanks and looked at next customer in the queue. I said What about the SD stickers and my tracking code? She got one of the silver stcky label sets out and stuck on and gave me the counter foil. I asked about scanning the barcode so their system logged receipt of the item. She looked at me as if I was mad. I thought mail centre staff might have some clue...

Do they have the facility to do that? I use my local mail centre to take all my pre stamped items but they can't do special or even recorded for me. They are happy to take themand stamp my receipt but if i want them actually entered into the system then I have to go to a PO.

Maybe your centre is the same.?

Mine does have a notice up that states they are not a PO counter and cannot offer all the services of a standard PO.

the system you are referring to is a post office system
crazily RM and post office systems dont talk to each other
soi when scanned in at the MC it will just say 'progressing through the network' on track and trace
not the posted at XXXXX message of a post office

well unless its changed but i doubt it

a mail centre should be able to take pre paid SD items
however if theres nobody in the locker they would have no safe way to pass them over to get them entered into the system IYKWIM
SD's are handled seperatly and you want them handled/tracked properly

EDIT: I should add i know very little on the running of Mail centres vs what I know of delivery

That is sort of what happens if i take in a special or recorded. They cna take them, and they stamp me a receipt to say they have them but if I check online they wouldn't even show as 'accepted by RM' or whatever the statement is. So on the rare occasions I have a special I have to make a special trip to the PO.
