Been Naughty applied for Halifax c/c

After applying for an Alliance and Leicester account on Monday and was accepted, I'm just a bit worried about their move to Santander?
So thought blow it will see if I can get an Halifax current, not the Reward account.
Applied, got given the account details, sort code, I know though they can do this anyway and still be declined.
But this was also on the decision email as well,it mentions about having to put in £100 first? Would you say it has been opened?

So this is the 'Everyday' account?

Looks like it's identical to the Reward account, apart from the £1K monthly funding/£5 Reward.

How about redesignating it a Reward account (once it's formally open) and making yourself a free £60 a year? I remember from an earlier post you're "not on big money". That doesn't matter since as long as you credit a total of £1K (ie 2 x £500...just cycle it out to a WebSaver and back again) you'll get the fiver.

    Worth a thought?

It looks like you've been accepted if you put in first £100 to receive your card...
  • You may NOT have been accepted.

I applied for the Reward account on 13th June and got a similar email. I registered for online banking at the same time and 48 hours later I had online access, but the current account wasn't open. About 24 hours later, when I logged on, I discovered that the account had been opened.

This morning, (10 days after opening) I have just received a letter confirming that I have been accepted, but telling me to take two forms of ID into a branch to confirm identity. (Despite email saying that a debit card will be issued when I transfer £100 into the account, the letter I received today clarifies that the debit card won't be ordered until my identity has been verified. So, although my £100 has been in the account for nearly a week, a debit card hasn't been ordered yet, until I can do the 30 mile round trip to get to my nearest Halifax.

The point I'm making is that the Halifax emails look encouraging, but things actually take a bit longer than they hint at before you'll be up and running the account properly.;)

I'm very close to my nearest Halifax thankfully, my main bank account at the moment is a 32 mile 'round trip!
I rang the Halifax and she said as you, to take in 2 forms of ID and to credit it with £100.

Just an update really, went into the Halifax today, and they are crediting me with £50, which isn't bad!
I was told Halifax no longer issue cheque quarantee cards, you can request a cheque book.

The lady advisor was attentive and has put a £250 overdraft on my account, don't like overdrafts though, so that will be coming off:o

Are you sure it's not just better to lower it to £100 for damage limitation? It would mean that 1. If you did have a hiccup and went slightly over you wouldn't have the bank charges to worry about and 2. £100 isn't a lot of temptation compared to £250 and compared to the charges it might save you.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(
