Website Development Software

Options
Hello all,

Just wondering whether anyone's found any half-decent free website development programs???

This would be for home use and maybe a non profit club. Did have limited exposure to Dreamweaver a few years ago but obviously that costs. Don't have any experience of CSS. Really looking for something widget based that will get me up and running quickly and I'll worry about what's happening in the engine house later on.

Must be producing standard compliant pages though, obviously, not proprietary Microsoft rubbish... and not just limited period free trial.

Probably asking too much, but hey...

Many thanks
mousy

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Notepad. Or any text editor.

If you are familiar with web development, then you probably know what you want in a tool. But if you are not familiar, the tool gets in the way.

I'm a busy mum with two young children, so can't spare the time right now to learn how to do it all with notepad, I'm afraid.

Komposer does look very interesting though. I think I will try that and see how I get on.

    Many thanks for the suggestion.

I get their daily email and downloaded that earlier. When I saw this thread I was going to mention it myself.

Very small and simple and generates clean and simple code too from a very brief look. Worth a download imo but may not be capable of producing simple sites much beyond a few pages.

I tend to just use a text editor for my own stuff but I like to look at what programs like this produce (mostly because I've been putting off coding an extension to a site which would involve generating mini sites as subdomains for customers)

I've got both of those installed now and I'm having a play with them. Thanks for the help.
