Housing Benefit Question

Hi I'm new (don't bite!)

I've just got a letter from housing benefit today saying I have been accepted for housing benefit, but when the letters lists my income and the calculator, it says I get DLA, then underneath that it says "Long Term Incapacity £2.04"

But I get almost 100 pounds each week by Incapacity Benefit and I clearly told them that when I applied.

Does anyone know if this is normal by housing benefit or have they or I made a mistake?? I don't understand what it means... thanks.

If you are in any doubt as to whether you are receiving the correct entitlement, you need to contact the LA. Any overpayment will need to be paid back at a later date.

    Hi, thanks for the welcome.

I think I'm receiving the right benefits, it just says "income you told me about" it lists my DLA, then underneath that it says "Long-term incapacity £2.04" I don't know weather that is code for something else?? it confused me as like I said I get the long-term incapacity benefit rate, and surely they know long-term incapacity is much more then £2.04??

It should list the full amount, so I would definitely give them a call.

I will, thanks, it's pretty confusing because it clearly says "long-term incapacity", and anything with a brain knows long-term incapacity is much more then a measly £2.04...

It could be a data inputting error. Sometimes these things are done so quickly/ automatically that no one actually uses their brain. ;)

Don't worry, it could be that you are within your applicable amount, so will still receive the same award.

    Thanks.

It says my total applicable amount is £147.15, and it says the only income they take into account is this "long term incapacity" which is £2.04, my normaly incapacity amount is something like 106.40 a week, so do you still think I will still get the same award?? I don't get Income Support, just DLA (both high rate) and Incapacity Benefit, I don't work either.

    Thanks again

It could be the amount of income that is taken into consideration whilst working out your award, Whilst the remaining is disregarded.

But when they said my DLA they said exactly what I get, and underneath write "less disregarded income" - and the same amount.

But not the same for my Incapacity, just says "Long-term incapacity £2.04".
