Sky seller knocked at my door and offered a TV+phone+broadband. I have asked him, will I still have to pay for BT line rent and he said no, Sky will take it from BT. Is this true?

Yes, as long as you have fullfilled your contract with BT, sky will contact BT and deal with the transfer for you.
But you do have the choice, its not compulsory to have your line with SKY,
You can still have Sky, telephone calls and broadband in a package and just pay BT for your line.

Lots of people recommend not transferring the line to SKy just in case you want to go to another provider in the future, i think
BT would charge you a big connection fee then for reinstallng the line.
The difference in price is approximatel 50p a month but Im quite happy to be corrected.

If youre going to go for it, haggle for some freebies, half price sky for 6 months, or if you go with the rental ask for 6 months free line rental, they will bend over backwards to get you to take it on.
    Good luck
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Only if Sky has unbundled your exchange (check on samknows).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

They're not from Sky,they're from a company called Topaz Marketing who sell Sky.I was interviewed for them a while back & did'nt like their tactics. The guy I was out with for the day, admitted he did'nt know a thing about Sky or Cable (which he was trying to get people to switch from)
They get paid on a 100% commision basis so it's in their interest to get you to sign up.

The other thing to note is that these deals often to forget to say that the line rental cost isn't included in the deal prices and therefore you may not be spending as little as you would expect on these deals. The line rental isn't usually more expensive than BT but ignoring that does make their deal look much better than it actually is.
