2nd job tax.

Hi there everyone. My daughter has found a job that currently is 45 hours a week until the 3rd year term starts in september, then the hours will be reduced. We understand the tax for this job, but she has now been offered a 2nd job that is 6/7 hours employment at random times throughout the next few weeks. what is the tax rate that she will pay on this 2nd job. are the two added together and then anything above £6475 is payable at 20% or is it done another way.
please help if poss.

A concerned mother:)

As 2 jobs can't work it out between themselves she will have 1 tax code for her "main" job, and a BR rate for her second. She will pay 20% tax on everything on her second job. She will get tax allowance on her first job.

Assuming she earns over £6475 in her first job, her allowance will all be used up in her first job, and therefore, no allowance in second job.

realistically, the chances are that she'll get overtaxed if she's close to the threshold but under - but it can all be claimed back at the end of the tax year.... a bit of a pain, but, imo, better than the other way around!
