Smelly Air conditioning
Options
I have a 2006 Audi A4 with Air con.
When I switch it on, it emits a pretty strong smell which fades after a short time (less than a minute).
The system seems to work well with lots of cold air being blasted out if required.
I believe the smell is causd by fungus/bacteria in the system somewhere.
Is there a product or spray I can buy that gets rid of the smell? Where do I use/spray it?
thanks

Loads of sprays available (halfords).
You run the system in recirc, put it in the (either) front or back footwell, press and latch the plunger, then close the doors and leave it for 5 minutes (with nobody inside).
Works for a few Months, then the whiff comes back again.
Ebay has a good selection

you may need to change the pollen filter,it might be getting damp causing the bad smell.
if not then as above try some of the sprays, halfords do one for about £5 or £6 i think....work permit granted!0 -
Thanks to both for the help.
I'll have a loo in Halfords tomorrow. I did find a Comma spary for £11 that would appear to do the trick.
Hopefully I'll have a pong free system by tomorrow night!!!
Cheers

I've got smelly air con, too. Last year, a seagull pooed on the windscreen when the wipers were going and now when I put on the heaters or the air con, the whole car stinks of fish. Not pleasant.0

Take out your pollen filters and if they are not choked, spray them thoroughly with clear, household anti-bacterial spray. Let them dry and refit, problem solved.0
