I've decided that, when I next go to a gig/something else that I'm interested in, Im going to endlessly mindlessly talk about it, finish work early and expect that to be fine, put a flag up supporting whatever it is outside my house and then cry and rant when what I want to happen doesn't go my way.........flippin football!!lol.

I agree, the Iditarod doesn't get broadcast really but I think I'm going to be generally lazy and part timing for a week in January next year! :D

Actually, it seems like the people who don't like football are going on about it far more than those who do.

I don't understand why he couldn't be allowed into the warehouse though - surely if he loads and unloads he has to enter the warehouse at some stage? Did your hubbie ring his company to tell them what was happening so that they could ring the company and tell them to let him do his job?

Me neither. Health and Safety! What complete and utter tosh! All Businesses have a process for allowing people onto premises, this one must have them as well.

    It's once every 4 years.

So what if he's home late just this once. I'm sure you'll both survive.
But it's not just the fact of him being late is it, as an HGV driver if he goes over his hours he will be then forced to rest for a period of time, if self emloyed then this would make him late for other contracts etc etc, why should someone be inconvenienced by the selfish actions of others, they are paid to work and thats what they should do, I don't see industry stopping for the Olympics or the Rugby world cup. I see no reason why others should have to suffer or be penalised for the selfish action of a bunch of skivers who are doing something they should be doing in thier free time.

Definitely take your point. But OP is moaning because her OH didn't make it home due to the warehouse staff.
Why should x amount of staff who, I'm guessing been given permission to watch the game at work, miss the football for the sake of 1 person?

He could have taken the afternoon off. Afterall the fixtures have been out for a while. Wouldn't have killed him to do some forward planning

I'm guessing football is far more popular than the olympics and the rugby hence the reason people being given the day off/finish early or whatever.

It wouldn't kill you or anyone else for that matter just to get behind the festivities :D It's hardly a regular occurence!

Like every saturday and sunday on TV, I wouldn't mind but it seems your national side in England have yet to achieve the standard and entertainment value of most sunday pub teams.

It's nice to see most of the nation being happy together for a change - we've had months of doom and gloom and for a few weeks, most people can cheer for England and hope and hope and hope. Can't be much fun if you're not a footie fan, but it is only a few weeks every 4 years. Enjoy it while you can I say!
