Switch with OVO gone wrong
I recently applied to switch my gas and electricity from npower to OVO, which was supposed to have happened last week (got the confirmations, provided readings etc.).
Now I find out that OVO has switched my gas correctly, but has switched someone else's electricity instead of mine. Npower confirmed that they are still supplying electricity at my address.
Even though OVO are supplying only gas, they are taking direct debit and billing me for both fuels.
Have written to OVO asking them to resolve the matter, but I'm worried about all the hassle and whether I can end up being responsible for someone else's electricity supply.
Any suggestions on what to do if OVO don't act quickly enough?

If you phone them make sure you have one of your old bills to hand as that should have the correct meter number on it so you can give them that to make sure they switch the correct meter over.
I can echo the above, my switch to Ovo only went live on the 1st of June though, but so far been impressed with what I've had from OvoMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Hi astreix
Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having and I hope it's sorted out quickly for you.
In the meantime, its best if you keep paying npower for your electricity (as you're technically still being supplied by us) and call Ovo to cancel your electricity direct debit with them to save any duplication. You don't want to be paying twice!
Situations like this can happen but if you don’t pay your actual supplier, you could end up with a hefty final bill.
Please keep the forum updated on how you're getting on.
Best wishes,
Sally
