Advice Please

Hi Everyone...

OK - DLA Claim refused - dont know yet whether we are more upset or angry because short of having three bears in the explaination its fairytale stuff..

anyway we are going to appeal, so would appreciate any help please.

Do we ring them first and tell them we are appealing or just reply in writing addressing all the points they have raised.

Any advice would be gratefully received - and if by any chance there is anyone thats been at this point and managed to successfully gain DLA i would love to hear about it ....may just cheer us up if we feel it still has hope !

Thanks x

Just request (or get from the job centre) a GL24 form. Phone them to get a statement of reasons - this also gives an extra 2 weeks for you to lodge your appeal.

This is very dodgy indeed and exactly why they are bringing in the changes announced yesterday.

People are different and and two people with very similar conditions could cope very differently. One needing lots of physical or emotional support with their care and mobility needs, the other needing or wanting much less.

You are meant to say how your conditions effect you form your own expenrience or that of your nearest who know you well. NOT in the words of someone else, especially someone you dont even know, with the same or similar condition.

I do wonder if the compulsary medical is partially the result of them recieving many forms written almost identically due to them being filled in by people who are 'trained' in the same manner to do so instead of in the experience of the applicant of their condition on their lives.

ahhh thanks for your support - really feel downhearted at the mo -

So do you recommend that i call them - with the letter saying 'no' there was a breakdown of each of the 'categories' and then the DM's comments - so is this a statement of reasons ? or do i need to ask for something else.

I presume i then go through each point she has made and argue my case ?

Thanks again - the funny thing is that we would have been happy with low rates ...but got nothing.

Statement of reasons is more detailed.

Oh Sox i am so sorry, all that waiting for nothing. I started our appeal ball rolling last week by asking for a statement of reason, its not arrived yet, but we could compare notes as the weeks progress if you like?

One reason why it is a very very very good idea for ALL claimants to have a full medical from 2013!!
That is disgraceful passing on your "good form" to someone else!
