Housing allowance cap. A good idea

Personally I think that this is an excellent idea. Rent being paid by tax payers for others to live in more luxury than the tax payer seems like the world working upside down. They should have done this years ago, in fact, it should never have been like this.
My ex lives in a lovely flat in a really posh part of London. She has never paid a penny in tax in her life and never appreciate what she has been given by the hard working tax payer, and she has no real interest in getting a job.

I hope those caps are for London as well.

This move might even bring down rents.
What i've noticed is, once the agents realise a person is on housing allowance, they find out what the maximum rent allowance is for that person and charge that rent however much less that property's rental vaule is. So say the rent allowance for that person in that area is £280 and the market value of the property is £220 they will charge them £280. The council will not check to see if it is being diddled. The usual estate agent shenanigans.
