toyota carina
Hi
I am going to view a toyota caina gli 1.8 later on a 95 plate. It has just had a new mot today, so I am hoping that there is nothing major wrong with it.
Can anyone please tell me what to look out for on these cars particulary.
I know its not the bees knees, but I need a car for when my boy starts secondary school as we live in the sticks, and if I have a car he will be able to do after school clubs etc and if he gets ill at school or has to attend hospital/dentist appointments I can fetch him.
Thanks

It'll run for ever. Even if its been clocked, crashed and bashed!0

We had a carina a long time ago, '93 on a K reg, it was a lovely drive. The only 'fault' we had was the cd player used to skip if you hit a bump in the road, but as it was one of the few cars that fitted cd's at the time, it was a novelty just to have one.
If you get a cherished one at the auctions they fetch good money.

Almost all the minicabs in Manchester are carinas, even quite old ones. Speaks for itself really. Have a look at the nissan primera, they're pretty similar and good.0

They're pretty reliable cars!
BUT make sure the brakes are OK.....
A friend went to view one recently, the seller claimed it had ABS.... On closer inspection it'd didn't have ABS just warped brake disc's!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hi
Thanks for all replies - ended up buying it. Its in immaculate condition for its age, just a few stone chips, issued with a new mot today.
