New garden gate required

I have had a wall built and have left a 4ft gap from the back of the house to the wall to allow access to the back garden.
I have gone for 4ft as this is a good size to get items into the back garden and i thought would be pretty easy to get a garden gate.
Only trouble is i can't find a cheap metal gate to suit that size gap. I was hoping for a 3/4 or full height gate that would be readily made to fit this size opening.
If anybody has seen one or come across a similar issue. Don't really want to pad out the gap as it would defeat the object.

Hi,
you are saying a 4 ft gap, but you need hanging posts, so gate might only need to be 3-6, have a look here.0 -

I've used that company about a year ago for some wooden gates and they were/are fine.0 -
Thanks, exact gap is 4ft, but if i went for 3ft 6" then i am 6" short, probably 3" either side with posts. Which i don't want to compromise the gap size really.
I see they do some bigger ones that would fit, but all well over the £100 not including delivery. Was hoping there was something out there at a more reduced cost.
This is an option i could look at if nothing else appears, but its bordering on handmade costs and would rather give the work to a local company.
But could look in the 3ft ??? something range, as with hinges and latch might get something that will fit.0 -
what do you mean by full height gate? 6ft? If so you are looking at £150-200. You could get get a 3ft high gate for about half that price though.0

There is, one that doesn't fit.
It annoys me when people ask me for a price to make a decent garden gate.
Metal, decent sizes not like the stuff the ones they sell in diy shops are made of, £20 ish
Ancillaries like hinges, catches, any fancy bits like rail heads, £10.
Then get it galvanised so it doesn't rust, £30.
Then they want it black, so powder coat over galv, £20-30
Total £90.
"oh, but i can get one in xxx for £40"
They didnt really want a nice one afterall then
£100 is cheap for a big gate:)0 -
I didn't say i wanted a decent gate, i said a cheap metal gate. £100 may be cheap for a nice gate, i just want cheap. The ones on the website didn't make me think wow and they were well over £100, not just £100 but about £130 plus delivery.
Height wise 6ft max, ideally 5ft or maybe 4ft, but a 4ft wide and 3ft high won't look right. I may have to look at wood if nothing metal comes up.0 -
In your price range you will get a a 3ft high metal fence that you can bend with your hands.0

There are some cheap ones out there like this 3ft 3 x 6ft for £39.99, no doubt is not that heavy duty but would suit its need. cheap gate
At least in its favour its 6ft. Although i do feel if i see one that really appeals to me i could stretch my budget, but not seeing many at all yet.0 -
I recently got the tall 3' 6'' gate from Wickes on line (as mentioned above), it was on sale at £30. Looks fine and does what a gate does. Opens, closes and keeps my dogs in the garden. Job done.
You need to add a post onto one side to fit the latch, so you can't actually have a 4' wide gate.0 -
Are you sure it was 3' 6" as i can't find one that wide, only 3' 3"? If i need to add post it might fit.0
