MG TF coolant light back on after head gasket replacement

In March my coolant light kept coming on. I took my car to a local garage and left it but they couldn't find anything wrong. They did top up the coolant level. However a week later the coolant light came back on again. They replaced the head gasket and fitted a new cam belt costing me £600. 3 weeks later the coolant light came on again. I took it back and left it for a few days but they couldn't find any leaks. They topped up the coolant level again. This time it went for 4 weeks but again the coolant light is back on. Should I go back to the garage and say you haven't sorted the original problem? Did I get the head gasket replaced unnecessarily? Have they replaced the head gasket but haven't cured the problem? I paid by credit card. This is getting me down.

The system should have been pressure tested first time you had a problem. Have a search for a local MG/Rover specialist to look at it but I'd bet the coolant pipes have been overlooked.0

Any bets on the original fault being nothing more than a leaky expansion tank filler cap seal?0

TF's are reknowned for head gasket problems though, I've been looking at getting one second hand & wouldn't buy one without it having been replaced.0

MGF from 2001 onwards and all TF models feature uprated head gaskets with steel locating dowels to reduce instances of head gasket failure, so don't worry too much about that. Probably the coolent pipes or filler cap as mentioned above.0
