Clueless - help!

Options
I've found out that I'm probably going to be made redundant.

I've been very fortunate never to have been in this position before and have worked at my present employment for a long time. I live with my partner who is employed, we don't have any children but do have a huge mortgage.

I'll get a lump sum from work but wondered if I'll also be entitled to benefits? Does anyone know what I'll be entitled to, how much and for how long? Where do I go to to find these things out? Will it make a difference if I have the lump sum in my account whether I can claim any benefits or do they not take that into account?

We do have some insurance on our mortgage but it's so long since we took it out that I'm not sure what/how much it covers so a job for tonight is going through all the paperwork to sort it out.

I've also been trying to phone the Citizens Advice Bureau but it's impossible to get through - I've been trying for 3 days.

Any help / advice that anyone can give me would be really appreciated - I don't know where to start and I'm in panic mode!

Many thanks,

Louise.

Louise there is a lump sum redundancy calculator for your statutory minimum redundancy lump sum on the direct.gov website.
You may get more, if your employer is not a big a swine as mine is.

Tbh this forum will give you some very good advice. You should get jobseekers allowance come what may. Good luck.
