I've signed up for Virgin TV and broadband in our quarter, I've just started to actually think about the installation and was wondering if I would need permission to get cable TV installed. Do they have to dig up the garden or anything?

They dont dig up the garden per se,they splice the grass & lay the cable under the splice & tamp the turf back down.Concrete is given a 2 inch wide sawcut & slabs/block paviers are lifted & relaid.Trust me,after a couple of weeks you wont know it's been done.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Does anyone on the estate have cable?
It might not actually be installed in the road, which would mean its probably not worth doing without alot of customers signed up ready.

My street is not entirely forces, only a few houses at the end of the street. The street has cable and fibre-optic installed already so that's not a problem. Was just concerned that it would involve too much work.

Thanks for your replies.
It's fibre optic only up to the telephone exchange (Mux) & DA (Distribution Amplifier, which is for the TV/BBand,these can be anything up to over 1/4 mile to your home. After the Mux/DA it's copper.0 -
The last SFA we were in had cable installed, although we didn't use it, so it's not a definite 'no' - sorry I can't be of more help.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

Virgin can give a great deal.
We had -
XL Tv (ESPN is on it for free)
2MB BB
Phone line
Free V+ HD box
Free HDMI cable
Free installation
I think it was £35 a month, reduced to £30 the next year.
Plus we picked up a 2nd box, but not allowed to talk about here.
