Instant Coffee in the Garden

I have some instant coffee that the wife refuses to drink as its out of date (I know, I know!), but wondered if it would be any use in the garden?

I see lots of mention of coffee grounds, but this is instant coffee?

Sprinkle instant coffee on garden areas used by neighbours dogs' or cats. They don't like it.

If your wife hates it, what makes you think your plants will like it any more than she does? Probably best to bin it.

Coffee grounds are useful because they are shredded beans containing nutrients. Instant coffee is just flavoured water that has been processed into powdery granules.

The smell from instant coffee may put off bugs and pests and other animals temporarily, but I doubt whether it provides nutrients for the soil or the compost heap.

Buy a jar that's in date and stealthily sneak the old stuff in as she uses the new stuff up? That's what I used to do to OH. Well, I still do, but not sneakily anymore as eventually he caught me in the act :o luckily that coincided with him wondering if we could budget for a newer car... he's gone all evangelical about money saving now and by the time we've collected enough for the car I'm hoping he'll be completely [STRIKE]reprogrammed[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]retrained[/STRIKE] used to it

Out of curiosity. Is there a "Use by" date on a bag of coal?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
