Does anybody know if it is possible to do a balance transfer to clear an overdraft?

It has to be a Super Balance Transfer. MBNA backed cards offer this. Basically a transfer to a current account. The fees are higher, normally about 4%

Or use Egg Money card as a mule ie bt from another card to Egg, then transfer from Egg to your bank. Egg Money do not charge for this. That way you would avoid any higher bt fee, which shouldn't exceed 3% for a year or longer.
