Hi I recently bought a laptop from auction but it has got a log on come up when it starts up. and it didnt come with a password. Anything I can do? to get past it?

Em not sure has it got a password clue maybe you culd guess from there. Not sure what else apart from a fresh copy of xp

try booting it into safe mode and seeing if the "guest" account has administration rights

While you are restarting your amchine press the F8 key to get the "Boot Mode" menu. Choose "Safe Mode". Once you get to the Log in screen log in as administrator with no password. This will allow you to reset forgotten local admin/users passwords

or do you mean before windows loads ?? in which case it is a bios password

have you tried just pressing enter?, if no password is set up, enter will just log you in, also type in "administrator" as username, and try pressing enter on that.
