I've been asked to find some replacement whiteboards for our classrooms at school - another teacher friend has suggested that we upgrade to interactive whiteboards...I'm a little unsure of where to shop for them though - any teachers/IT types had experience of shopping for these online?

We have SMART boards at my place of work -but surely your LEA purchasing department can be doing that for you? If they can' then just look up SMART boards or 'interactive whiteboards' on the net.0

I was in a similar situation last year...do a search for 'CTS networks' - thats who we got ours from.
shouldnt matter where you're based as they'll deliver and install wherever you are in the UK0 -
I appreciate schools have more control over their budgets/procurement than before but if you're purchasing through an IT department via a corporate procurement system, you may not have much choice in the matter. Similarly if you want your IT bods to support it, they may have a requirement.
Around here, we use SMART in the authority, but the schools are on a different standard (can't rememebr which, sorry)
I'd suggest having the same as other schools in case staff move etc.
BECTA used to have some resources online, but they've been zapped recently so may not be available any more.0 -
SMART and Promethean (ActivBoard) are the main ones it seems.
I've bought several for my work - you will have a local audiovisual retailer near you, but if you're in Yorks, Roche AV (https://www.rocheav.co.uk) have given me good service. If you're buying for a school you might have to go via designated suppliers - your procurement manager will be able to tell you who you are allowed to buy from.0 -
Am I the only person who finds it a strange coincidence that chappertron and bigtrev both have their first posts within 90 minutes of each other.

I have a Smart 680 in my area at work, it's very useful to be able to draw all over and save to a computer and I find it a great help. If you're looking to project onto them for presentations etc, you're looking at paying well over £3k a board with the projector and kit for something that would be a suitable size for a classroom.0

Smart boards seem to be the best,0
