So i put the DSL cable in my phone line and hook it to the modem/router. Then i take a Ethernet cable and that goes from the modem to the PC.
But my internet provider gives me cable thats shorter than a strand of hair.
So i did a search for DSL cable and got a heap of results like cat5e snag free 350mhz cable, then high speed belkin cable which is better than the rest and RJ45 cables too?!
Cant believe theyve turned even the simplest thing so complicated!
Basically i want my modem/router in my room. Usually it was downstairs next to the phoneline cos the wires are so short. So i need a longer wire from my telephone line to my modem/router
Which one is it i get?

The cable from your DSL router to the media filter on the telephone socket uses RJ11 connectors.
Google RJ11 and loke for a male to male lead for the length you need. They're pretty inexpensive, hould be able to get a 7m cable for a couple of pounds.0 -
Indeed there is a 5 metre one here for £1.88.

Best practice is to have the telephone lead to the modem as short as possible to minimise noise. Also ideally it should be plugged into the master socket not an extension.
Using a longer ethernet cable will not degrade the signal. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Extend the cable from router to pc, never the cable from phone line to router. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
