Any Electricians? - Oven Problem?!

We have a local company we use for these sorts of repairs - they sell factory damaged goods (full warranty, usually just the odd scratch) , and do the repairs as well. £35 call out so if you decide not to use them it's not extortionate - our oven repair which was blowing the fuse (new element needed in the end) cost £80 all in. Can you get recommendations from anyone you know?
Or if you really haven't used it that much, could you get onto cannon and argue that it should have lasted longer than it has given the amount you paid for it. (Not up on which legislation that would be though, you might have to try one of the other boards.)
Edit - found this on consumerdirect. You'd probably be in for a battle, but might be worth a try.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Almost. A Rheostat usually has the third terminal missing or disconnected.kwikbreaks wrote: »So what is the difference? The terms are synonymous.
It also used to be a source of laughter when n88bs asked for a 'pot' instead of a Rheostat. Folk can be cruel and when I asked my teacher 'why the big deal?' he told me; 'If you can't get the name of the part technically correct - how can you be technically competent?' and that has always stuck with me for some odd reason
but granted, some later electronic versions use pots and a triac/scr type set up I am told. 0
