washing machine ripping clothes

our washing machine - Tricity Bendix AW1400W front loader - has started tearing small rips in some clothes like denim jeans. it does happen every wash but when it does it damages the clothes & is not something we can live with.
I've checked the drum and cannot find any protrusions or anything that the clothes could be catching our clothes. my local repairman suggested looking at the plastic paddles inside the drum but these look fine.
I wonder whether anyone has had a similar problem or any other ideas I could try

I've had similar problems in the past - and my dad's a repairman (although we live a little far away from home noe for him to pop round  ).
He said it can often be due to over loading the drum - so try a lighter load and see how you get on. If it still does it I'd get in touch with the manufacturers and see what they say.
Good luck with it.

it could be the underwires from bra's when my last machine broke down i took it apart and the amount of them oh dear0

Ripping clothes is usually a sign that the Big rubber door seal needs replacing, if you spin the drum round by hand you can usually hear any caught bra wires rubbing , 90% chance its the door seal0

Just what I was going to say - overload can distort seal making the drum unbalanced - Our eldest decided to wash all her jeans - must have weighed a ton!! - one day causing the machine to sound really loud/ vibrate and damage her best pair! We eventually replaced the seal after other items of clothing were being damaged - wasn't too expensive, just a pain to fit. No problems since.I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

My OH is a builder and always leaves nails and screw in his pockets. Even though I always check, a few have found their way into my washing machine. I occasionally have small tears in washing (usually towels, for some reason) and I assume the nails have caught in the small holes in the drum and torn the edges. You can't see any damage, but I'm sure there are some rough edges there!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
