    Looks very similar to an Ellion DVR-950H (here). Don't know who actually makes it.

    The DVR-950S is £188 from Amazon (here) - think the S just stands for slimline.
  • This Thursday £39.99

    One of the most remarkable, feature-packed DVDs on the market today - and for an equally remarkable price. Already compatible with 'next generation' HD TVs, this is set to become yet another Aldi best-seller.

    * Includes FREE HDMI cable
    * Employs a digital process that upscales standard DVD quality to virtual HD quality
    * HDMI connection means no loss of picture or sound quality
    * DivX compatible for playback of downloaded movies
    * 5-in-1 card reader for viewing all your digital pictures on your TV
    * 5.1 channel output with AC3 Dolby Digital Decoder
    * Full function remote control with batteries
    * Front headphone socket
    * Progressive scan
    * DVD±R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, JPEG CD, Kodak Picture CD, MP3 CD
    * DTS decoder
  • I think it is the same one as talked about here and as sold in Germany earlier this year.

    btw I think it has VGA output too. Looks comparable with the latest yamada that ebuyer are selling here for £50 but based on a different chipset. Good value though.

    Cheers
    Rob

    Edit : Review here in German and translated badly here

    Edit : Note, the Tevion is fitted with an Zoran Vaddis 888 chip-set which is capable of decoding std-def MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 Part2 (SP/ASP) sources only i.e. not hi-def sources. It can however, up-scale std-def images to pseudo hi-def looking images.

    It will probably be a hack done through the remote control, you could try a google search for the model number and see if any hacks come up

    I think the hack is in the review I posted above, it difficult to tell though ;-)
  • upscaling dvd players are pointless really. Although the HDMI connection may improve your image quality slightly.

    True. A VGA port is quite handy though, shame there isn't a freeview box with a VGA port for about this price. Also i'd like a divx dvd player for this price to have an ethernet port as well.
