charging more for electrical work than initial quote on conservatory price

Options
We have just had conservatory built, the initial quote covered supply & fit of sockets & light. The electrician working for conservatory company states we need a circuit board to supply conservatory. The company are asking us to meet the cost of this even though they said their original quote wouldnt change. Am i right to question this ? any advice please.

They can put in a seperate circuit board to supply the conservatory only, thus avoiding the bigger job

They should be upgrading the earthing and bonding if required (earth wires to gas and water pipes)

    To sum up
New consumer unit for whole house = additional cost

New unit for conservatory only- should have been included in price
    baldly going on...

It sounds to me like they didn't consult their electrician when pricing the job, and the electrician has since got involved on site and identified what is actually required, which wasn't allowed for in the price by whoever put the original quote together.

It's not unreasonable to try and get them to stick to the original quote.

My integral garage is having a circuit board in because who ever did electrics lets say didnt do a very good job and electrician said to us that it needs this to comply with safety, before now we had several walls sockets and light strip from one feed from house which fed washer/tumble/GCH boiler, freezer couple of wall sockets and strip light.

We got quoted £300 for cicruit board from house to garage, 2 security lights fitted (we got them separate) new sockets in garage plus a few small jobs in house (new light in bathroom and fix outdoor light
  • Thanks for your reply-the electrical work was to install 4 sockets & ceiling light and this was covered in the conservatory price. Am just annoyed cos when salesman give me quote he assured me price wouldnt change.
