As far as I know you cant upgrade standard parcels. Rm would only insure higher value items if they are fully tracked so you should be sending special Delivery.0

Strangely enough you can add insurance to standard parcels. for £100 compensation it costs an additional £1 and for £250 comp £2.25. Obviously no good for paypal purposes but at least you can get some cover against loss.

Wow you learn something new every day. I would have thought they wouldn't want to give that sort of compensation on a non tracked service. Royal Mail really make no sense at all sometimes0 -
I was told at a Post Office last week that its better to send parcels as 1st/2nd class rather than SP as SP go missing more often.0

Nothing to do with the fact SP's cheaper than 1st or 2nd, so they just want more money from youharveybobbles wrote: »I was told at a Post Office last week that its better to send parcels as 1st/2nd class rather than SP as SP go missing more often.

I actually use parcels quite a bit as I often have books go over the 1.25 kg weight and that's when parcels become cheaper. It is a very useful service, £4.41 for up to 2kg and without extra insurance you still get the basic £41 of cover.
I can't say I have ever heard of it being less secure that normal mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
