Refused Halifax current account: credit scoring

Hi Guys/Gals,
New to the forum/site so be gentle.
I have a similar problem to the OP with NatWest, I recently tried to get an account with the bank without any overdraft facility or cheque book. I was told it was a go and was even given my account number etc to enable me to pay money in, I also set up a savings account as I am looking to put a deposit for a house together... Anyway a week after the account was set up I had still not recieved my card and pin number so I rang the bank. I was told these were on the way and not to worry, the next day I recieved a text to say the items had been sent. Four days later still not card or pin so I rang the bank again to be told there was a problem and I had to ring this number to speak to someone ablout it as the details I had given didnt match what they had searched and I had to remove the monies I had paid into the account as they would be closing it..
I rang them up and was told the info I had provided was wrong to my credit report and that I should obtain a copy. However I already had a copy from the start of this month (due to a mortgage I am looking at getting) and all info is fine, I have a score of 930 out of the 1000, I have No debt or outstanding monies to anyone, I am lucky that I am debt free having sold a house a few years back and clearing all my debts. I have since recieved a letter saying I dont meet their criteria, I dont see how this is possible as they have told me it's not due to lack of credit or debt so to speak. I have spoken to Experian and they confirm all information is correct and they see no reason why I cannot get a bank account! My wage at present is paid into my partners account but as most guys will know this is not the best situation as you women do like to spend lol. Any advise is much appreicated, I have sent them a letter asking for them to explain but I am not holding my breath, but I do need a bank account and this has happened to me twice in the last 6 months now and is getting to become a pain.
Thanks in advance.0 -

... I have a score of 930 out of the 1000,...
Actually you dont.
The score is just a number made up by the credit reference agency (Experian, Equifax ,etc) and sold to you. It is NOT used by lenders so is fairly useless. As a Money Saving Tip, don't buy it in future. You just need the statutory report.
With regards to your problem, maybe it is not your credit history but some other 'check' you are failing?
Have a read of Martin's article...
