Another DVLA Problem...
Options
I bought my girlfriend a car in January and it was advertised as having 'one previous owner'. The logbook never came so we completed a second log book.
Then two log books arrived within days of one another...
1st - Stating her to be the third owner (Arnold Clark dealership being the second).
2nd - Stating me to be the fourth owner and my girlfriend the third!!!!
As though they did process the first logbook change into her name but then erased her in favour of me.
Fast forward 4 months and out of the blue theyve sent yet another logbook with my girlfriend now as the 5th registered keeper!!!
Surely this effects the cars value... 5 owners when really its 3!
Can this triple error be deleted showing my girlfriend as the 3rd owner... not 5th...

Yes just write to DVLA explaining what you have put in your post. You'll need to explain why you filled out V62 logbook application in your name not girlfriend's, but ultimately state that she is, and had always been the registered keeper and they should then revert it back to the correct details.
Make sure you state the correct of acquisition for your girlfriend in covering letter, and put reg mark plus make/model.
DVLA may write to you to check that you have not been the actual keeper. But ultimately it should be changed back to normal within 4 weeks.
Send most recent logbook (highlight the errors on logbook) and covering letter to DVLA.

Is there a way of finding out who all the previous keepers were?"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

At a guess owner number 1 traded it in at arnold clark.
Arnold Clark became 2nd owner but sold it as one previous owner. Not very nice but tecnically true as they were the current owner.
They have then been slow sending off the paperwork and put it in your GF name then changed it to you as you were technically the buyer and owner - they are probably only allowed to transfer cars to the actual purchaser I would guess.
Yours then made it to them and changed it to GF
Write to the DVLA and see what happens but I suspect the GF is the only one in between who will be removable
Owner Num 1 - Correct
Owner Num 2 - Correct
Owner Num 3 - Incorrect
Owner Num 4- DVLA and AC may argue Correct as you did own the car.
Owner Num 5 - Correct.
I wonder if you are as well just keeping the certificates and explaining it come resale.0 -
My wife changed the surname on her car's logbook from her maiden name to her married name. When it came back it showed that the car had had two keepers. She was a bit annoyed as she's owned the car from new and it had only had one keeper. She wrote to the DVLA complain. They did nothing.0

some garages end up being the reg'd keeper when a customer asks them to tax it.0
