7m hedge 7m from house - would you call that too high?

Hello,

I just want to make sure that I'm being reasonable. I've asked my neighbour (about 6 weeks ago - I even provided them with contact details for someone to do it...:D) to cut the leylandii hedge down but nothing's been done yet. It's about 7m high and about the same distance from the house - although we also a brick built shed within about 3 meters.

Our neighbours have their house on the market and have from the looks of it moved away and only there once every couple of weeks.

Anyone else gone through anything similar?
Should we be worried about our hedge?
What should be our next move?

Thanks,
Woo

You could contact the council, as they could be given an ASBO for their hedge, but that will also leave you with a recorded dispute with a neighbour (and you will have to pay the council to act).

I would suggest they will bend over backwards to ensure they do not enter into any dispute with a neighbour - this will pretty much kill their chances of selling. The property board will be able to give you more advice on how you may be able to persuade them to co operate.
