JSA, income protection policy and owed wages..

Sheesh..

I got made redundant 5/6 weeks ago now.. so far not had a penny!

Wages - waiting for the National Insurance Scheme to sort this out (estimate 1 week)

Income protection policy - They have all they need and can't give me a timescale for sorting my claim out..! Not impressed at all, and all things considered regarding the problems it has caused in my eligibility for standard benefits, then I can't see me bothering with it again in the future. I actually started crying on the phone today trying to explain how much I needed to get paid out to pay my bills.

JSA - Still processing my claim 6 weeks later, apparently they needed a month to decide on my income protection insurance.! What a joke.

Housing benefit - they can't pay until the job centre sort out my claim.

I really do feel like I'm going nuts! :o I managed to pay my bills for last month, but depite having an insurance policy and being proactive in chasing up each department, I'm no better off. In fact, if I didn't have the insurance I think it would have been a lot simpler.

I have just over 1 week until my rent/bills etc come out of my account, I have £40 in there and £650 of bills due to come out.

What are the odds that someone will give me some money before then?! :undecided

Anyone any tips on moving any of it along?

Have you paid sufficient NI Conts to claim CB JSA?

Your LA do not need your JSA to be sorted to process your claim. Tell them you would like to be assessed on the basis of being on a low income.

Only paid 18 months NI contributions without a gap, so I don't think Im eligible no.

The LA have now sent me a letter asking for proof of Insurance payment and also what my insurance payment will cover (bills, rent etc).

I will be getting £600 insurance per month, in theory anyhow, but I have no proof of payments as they haven't paid me.

I don't think I'll get JSA, but they said I should still get it for the 30 day waiting period for my insurance. HB people said I would get full HB for that period too.

Based on £600 income, I get £50 a week housing benefit and no JSA.

How it's all going to be worked out and when I will get anything from anyone is beyond me.

Yep, it sounds like you will not have paid Conts in the correct periods.

I agree you should get JSA for your insurance waiting period. Your insurer should be able to provide you with proof of your payments to forward to the LA.

They haven't paid me yet though, I guess I can send off the policy which says my payments should be £600 a month.

I don't see why the insurance won't pay out, but they rang me for a telephone interview and were quite funny with me about a little project website registered to my home address, altho I've never listed this on the internet as such as you wouldn't know it was there unless you knew the web address. I've never made any money from it at all, it was just a project whilst I was working at my previous job, something to do in the evening for extra money, but it never went anywhere. Anyway, now I'm worried that they will mess me about over that, altho I can prove I've never made any money from it, or taken any orders, and I've shut it down now (on their advice).

Arrghh, just want this all to end. I'm waiting on a job interview I had last week and I really just want to get back into work now and stick two fingers up to the insurance company and the Job Centre.

Thanks for the replies dmg, I just need to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.
