What rose is this with hairy/prickly, sticky stems?

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a mixed hedge with an old-fashioned looking rose amongst it. The rose has lovely pink flowers and the stems have loads of small prickles which are a bit sticky - rather than the normal big thorns that you get on most roses.

I don't think it is a wild or dog rose as the flowers have lots of petals rathern than being the open type.

Does anyone know what sort of rose it could be and also if I could take cuttings from it - if so, when and how?

Sounds to me like a rosa rugosa - http://www.plant-identification.co.uk/skye/rosaceae/rosa-rugosa.htm

You could take cuttings between nov-march .. But i find that they can be a bit invasive as they have deep roots which put out runners

No it's definately not that one, but I have been hunting around for pictures and descriptions and I think it could be a Moss rose.

Could it be something like an Albertine? They were traditionally put in with hedges to provide a bit of colour and they have lots of smaller thorns that cling to clothing but they aren't the needle-like ones seen on dogroses

Could be Charles de Milles, heavy fragrant blooms and rampant when it likes where it is.
