Well they can put a cookie on my machine all they like. Wont do them any good as I have firefox with the adblock plus extension and it's incredibly rare I see an online ad, never mind click on one

I got the email a few days ago
  • I've had the email. All cookies from ValuedOpinions are now "session only", which means that every time I close my browser, it will disappear. If I don't sign in to VO in the first place, it will never appear.

    Problem solved.

But surely you need to sign in to claim your rewards and when you do you will get that cookie

Is this cookie thing a bad thing in that it knows which sites you are looking at etc or has the technophobe in me got it all wrong?

I have emailed them to say I don't want the advanced cookie, even if that means I can no longer be a member. I always monitor very closely who is allowed to put cookies on my computer.

yeah if you login to VO you get the cookie, but if you close your browser straight away afterwards, then reopen your browser, the cookie will be gone

And it can't track what I'm looking at if I'm opening another browser? The way I read it is that it stays on your PC all the time. Again, sorry if I'm being thick here! :)

you're not being thick, cos I don't really get it either ! (actually maybe we're just both thick !)

Anyway, I was told to get rid of cookies I go to tools, internet options, delete browsing history, etc. If I do this every time I finish a valued opinions survey will that stop the monitoring thingy?!

you could also use a programme called c cleaner and that will get rid of anything like this and their are probably some cookies that are on your computer that you dont know about,
    i personally use c cleaner
    spybot search and destroy
    advanced windows care
    and ad-aware
that way anything that i pick up is not there for long, because i use the cashback sites and do the daily clicks you never know what you might pick up along the way so that is why i use all of those bits of software.
