I have a BT residential landline and have Caller Display as part of BT Privacy At Home.
When a relative in Spain calls, my Caller Display never shows her number - it just shows 'International'.
However, if she calls whilst I have diverted incoming calls to my mobile using BT's Call Diversion calling feature, her full CLI is displayed - proving it would have been present and available on my home phone and that BT has passed it to my cellular provider.
So why does it not display on my home phone?

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

BT analogue lines display "international" when the international (INT) flag in the signalling is set, regardless of a CLI being present. There's some historic reasons behind this that I won't go into, but a lot of the logic now is that the volume of dodgy/corrupted CLIs coming in from overseas means BT would rather not display them.
Other networks, e.g. mobile operators, do not take that approach. So a call with an international CLI will typically display on your mobile despite the INT flag being set.
Not defending BT for not displaying CLI on inbound international calls, but the above explains why it's happening.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
