We are off to Germany, Hohne

We are married in our own home currently with a 7 month old. I am (was) due to return to work in August.

I am just after any advice, MSE tips from those who have been there done it. Will I be able to claim jobseekers allowance?

TIA

    Hi Tia

If you wish to apply for unemployment benefit in Germany you will need to register in the UK as a claimant, prior to leaving, where you will be given a bi-lingual document to bring with you.

Then you will need to register with your local Arbeitsamt (German equivalent of the Job Centre) within 7 days of your arrival.

Your Unit Welfare Officer or local HIVE should be able to provide contact details for the Arbeitsamt.

For more info on moving to Germany see the 'AFF Germany' and 'Moving to Germany' pages on our website.

    Hope that helps

Another plea to anyone who has managed to export their right to JSA I am getting brick walls with the useless (sorry to generalise but it is true in this case) idiots at the Jobcentres here. It's more of a principle now, I have paid in and not taken a penny back ever.
