Options
hi im hoping you can help me my laptop fell of my lap only about a foot and now my screen has gone funny it is 2/3rds black then it has thick white lines and black lines on one end sorry no good at describing things, anyway i connected it to my tv and the laptop works that way so i know that it is only the screen that is faulty. it is still under warranty but i don't really want to send it of if i can help it so i was just wandering if there is anything i can try first.

the laptop is a packard bell easynote tj65 also does anybody have a number for packard bell as i can't seem to find one just in case i can't fix the screen myself. all help is appreciated.

    Well, you have 3 choices,
    1. You can either go to a random store to get the screen replaced (which will cost) and it'll take about a week.
    OR

    2. You can take it to Packard and get it fixed for free.
    OR
    3. You can buy a screen (that'll also cost) and fix it yourself.

Remember to back up all the files first :)

Just curious, but if it was an accident, why would Packard Bell fix it for free, it wouldnt be covered under the warranty

Packard Bell will not fix it for free. Its black because its broken.

Ebay for a screen (Analogic is a good trader and I use them often) and either have a go yourself or a shop should charge no more than an hours labour.

    Agree
It sounds like a cracked screen and will not be coved under warranty. When you crack the screen you can not always see the cracks in the screen, it just goes black/white or even other colors.

Ps, Packard Bell are now part of Acer and and it's the good old Acer that will fix it, they will try and get you to send it in then charge you just for looking at it as it's customer damage.
