I've heard tell of Barclays warning Woolwich customers that when they finally switch them over to Barclays then they will also be changing account numbers. Does anybody have any more information on this?

I should imagine this is true as even though they are part of the same group, they are still different brands. I seem to remember reading though, that from next year Woolwich will dissapear. I may be mistaken though.0 -
Yes - TOTALLY TRUE..........
The 'Woolwich' name will be kept for some 'financial services products'.
Woolwich branches will close or be converted to Barclays (depending on proximity of the branches).
THE WORST thing is that they will be transferring all accounts to Barclays - they have to close your old account and open up the new ones!
I have been promised a smooth transition - But I'm more than a little sceptical about this. one year on from moving from a joint to a single Offset account I'm still getting notifacations that they have not transferred my direct debits correctly (one of which is every 5 years).
Because of their mistakes I ended up missing two amex payments (which I always pay off in full - and have done for over 20 years).
They also failed to take their own mortgage payment - and I had to send them a copy of my original Mortgage application as they were having 'technical issues'.
All in all It took days to sort out and I ended up writing to their Charman. It was only when I promised them that i was going to buy a single share in the company and would be attending the AGM and asking 50 odd (pre-tabled) questions that i suddenly had it all sorted!!!
My local branch gets rebranded and my account will change in April/May next year (there is no local Barclays). However I will be changing my provider before that as they cannot confirm that there will be no changes to my T&C's!
They are apparently going to give everyone 3months notice of branch closures and account transfers. At this point I will change to a new provider.I didnt take an offset with Barclays - it was with the Woolwich- but they got bought out.
Pity reallyI am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)
Better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.0
